The Research Lower Plenty Baseball Club has a proud tradition of being an inclusive club and encourages players of all ages, gender and ability to play the game of baseball in the spirit of teamwork, respect, hustle, fairness, courage and persistence.
The club fields senior men’s and women’s sides in both the winter and summer seasons, striving to compete at the highest level while also providing opportunities for players of any experience or ability.

Our Junior Philosophy
Our club spirit “The Research Way” emphasises respect for the game, supporting our teammates and playing the game the right way. We place a strong emphasis on all of these points as these principles apply both on and off the field. Whilst we are proud of our on-field achievements, we are most proud of the way our coaches approach the game and apply the Research Way.

Our Coaches
- Qualified adult baseball coaches (most are Level III accredited) who are current and experienced baseball players and/or coaches.
- Place emphasis on team, skill and individual development. They are there to build the confidence and life skills of your children using baseball as its framework.
- Are mandated to have Working with Children Checks.

Summer Seniors
Mens, Womens & Masters
The Research Lower Plenty Baseball Club fields men’s and women’s teams in the Victoria Summer Baseball League. This provides an opportunity for those wishing to play in the summer or year round to play with our club. As juniors reach the age of 13 (for females) or 14 (for males), this also allows for many parents to play with their sons and daughters.
The club also fields a team in the masters division for players 38 years and above. This option provides a social team for many of the players who don’t want to play at the higher competitive level but are more inclined to have a social catch up, and a throw and a hit on a Monday night.
Competitions involve home and away matches in the Victorian Summer Baseball League, typically playing against teams in the North East or North West regions of Melbourne.
Games & Training
The Baseball Victoria Summer Season starts in October and continues until March, with a four week Christmas Holiday break in the season.
Womens games are played on Saturdays, and mens games are played on Sundays.
Training is held at our home field, Glenauburn Park in Lower Plenty.

FAQs
Who can play?
The Research Lower Plenty Baseball Club welcomes all players over 13 (for females) or 14 (for males) years of age from any suburb across Melbourne, and with games played in Greensborough, Mill Park and our Home and Away season, it does not matter if you are from Research, Lower Plenty or any other northern suburb.
Many of our players live in Montmorency, Eltham, Briar Hill, Greensborough, Rosanna, Macleod, Viewbank, Hurstbridge, Epping, South Morang, Doncaster and Mill Park.
What is the cutoff for age groups?
The cut off date for the junior players for each age group is 30 September. In certain circumstances, The Victorian Summer Baseball and Melbourne Winter Baseball Leagues will offer dispensation for a player to play down an age category.
How much are the fees?
Two sets of fees are required to play baseball, covering both club membership and Baseball Victoria. Further information is available on our Registration & Fees page.
